How can a coach look for a job without their club knowing?

A coach can look for a job without their club knowing carefully, through people they trust. Ask around, follow the market, maybe look for open positions and contact clubs. A lot of coaches probably handle it by telling nobody, which won't risk their current position but at the same time keeps them invisible.

A lot of the coaches in hockey who are looking for a new job already have one. And if a club finds out their coach is looking for something else, it might put them in a bad light. Who would want to risk a relationship? Especially in this business where networks and relationships are everything.

What I think coaches are afraid of is that the information about them looking for something new leaks. They tell someone they trust, who tells someone they trust, who might tell it further, and then the word is out there. This sport is small. The same sporting directors, GMs, agents and coaches talk to each other every day. This may not apply in all cases by no means, but most coaches are probably not willing to risk their reputation.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with looking for new job opportunities already in advance. Coaches should be entitled to it without risking their position.

RINKADIA is solving this problem. Coaches can hide their profile from their current club, or any other they want, and they won't end up in search results for those clubs. Every other club still finds them. Profiles also appear in searches anonymously first, and the name only appears when a club opens the profile. The status can also be set to selective, which means they might be open to the right move. Safe.
